Jar Tutorial in Maya

Hello, today I will be teaching you how to make a jar in maya. (If you haven't guessed that already.)

1.The first step in making a jar in maya would be to create a new project window and find the EP curve tool. Its the one with squares on the line.

2. Next you select the tool and go into side view by pressing the space key and click the view that looks sideways. Once you are inside side view start clicking on one side of the origin (Do not cross the origin.) and make the shape of half of your jar/container.


3. Once you have made half of your container you actually need to turn it into a polygon so go to the revolve tool to finish the shape of your jar.

4. After you do that you should have a shape that looks similar to a jar and once you are happy with the look of your jar/container you can make the lid in the same fashion and you should end up with something resembling the image on the bottom. If you want to texture it the way I did you can right click on the jar and select assign favorite material blinn, you will have to do this twice, once for the lid, once for the base. To make the glass base you can change the transparency lower and make it a grayish color. To make the lid you can choose whatever color you want.
